5 Best Christmas Essentials

By  |  0 Comments

Christmas is a difficult time of year for your personal shopping needs as you always seem to be purchasing for other people, but why not treat yourself, to the 5 essential pieces for winter that will allow you to keep up with the trends over the festive season.

1. Glitter

Christmas means sparkle and that is no different for your wardrobe. So whether it be a small amount on some killer heels or all out with a shimmering jacket it will make you glisten against all those Christmas lights and stand out from the crowd.

2. Tartan

Traditionally tartan was used on Scottish kilts but designers such as Alexander McQueen has been influential into making tartan a fashionable item that everyone is craving to own in one way or another. This is one of my personal favourites this season as you can play around with it so easily by the different colours and patterns. You can dress it up or tone it down and it can work with lots of different outfits. There are so many options!

3. Fur

Cuddly and warmth is the definition of Christmas by the fire but why not have that whilst you have to bare the cold winds of England, you can do this by purchasing a fur piece. A big craze has been the fur headbands that not only are practical but look good too, but my favourite is the fur gilet. Team it with a plain black/white top, a big statement necklace, tight jeans and your winter boots, simple yet very effective.

4. Leather

Leather is a re-occurring trend in the Autumn/Winter every year but this year why not try something different to the traditional leather jacket. There’s a wide variety this season from: shorts, skirts, boots, bracelets, tops and hair accessories, so find what best suits you and give it a go.

5. Velvet

Velvet is an odd trend, some seasons no one goes near it and others everyone wants to have a piece and this is what has happened this year. The natural shimmer is very festive and is often used on body con outfits that allow your figure to be extenuated. This can be quite daunting and too far from your comfort zone so if this is you why not try a velvet shoe or a piece that incorporates velvet with another texture.
